Spray Painting the No-Mess Way

A kind reader left a comment for me the other day on an old post, "DIY Chalkboard from a Mirror."  Somewhere in the middle of the post, I casually mentioned our method of keeping spray paint confined.  We do a lot of spray painting and don't want to have outlines of everything we've ever sprayed all over the yard or driveway, so we came up with a simple solution.  Leila thought our tip deserved its own post, so... this one's for you, Leila!

Do you see that baby pool?  It's old and warped, but it works amazingly well for spray painting.  For this particular project, I just set the board down in the pool and coated it as well as I could.  When the first coat was dry, I rotated the board and sprayed the rest of it.  I just kept rotating and flipping the board until it was completely coated.

I'm sure that many of you have clever solutions of your own.  If so, I'd love to hear them!  Leave a comment below!

  1. Neat idea. We just use an old tarp.

I would love if you shared this idea on my Show & Tell link party today. http://www.gingerlymade.com/2013/01/show-tell-7.html
