DIY Chalkboard from a Mirror

Do you remember this teaser from a few weeks back?

Well, we've shown you the quilt and the bench, and we're here today with the repurposed mirror.

I was shopping at Goodwill several weeks ago when I noticed this huge, heavy mirror.  I thought to myself that it would make a nice chalkboard but was still in the process of justifying it when an employee went out of his way to help me get it down.  I pretty much had to buy it.  And I'm so glad I did.

Love the detail!
Marshall took the back off of the frame and took the mirror out.
I spray painted the front side of the frame backing with chalkboard paint and the frame itself with off-white spray paint.  We use an old baby pool for spray painting, and it protects the yard and driveway so nicely!
Marshall reattached the back to the frame.
I conditioned the chalkboard and then wiped it down with a paper towel.

Now it serves as our menu!

Since we took the mirror out, there is even a space for the chalk.  Love it!
Totally worth the $10!
